In my podcast recommendations post a few months ago, I mentioned there was a good chance that there would be a part two. And now it is HERE. Like last time, these are three podcasts that I listen to basically every episode of. Saying that makes me want to do some quick calculations and figure out how many minutes of podcasts I listen to per week, but I feel like that number would be so high that it would freak me out a bit. So I guess I will be leaving that thought alone.
If you have not yet been convinced to give podcasts a try, this is attempt number two. (Attempt number three will probably be coming at some point or another.)
Planet Money

Description: Planet Money! Another OG podcast. Their episode count is numbering in the lower nine hundreds right now and slowly climbing to one thousand. (I’m expecting some killer celebration for that milestone.) This podcast was my first time I really learned anything about economics, and because of that, it took me a long time to realize that economics is generally viewed as boring and horrible. I’m still in the process of realizing that. It’s tagged as an economics podcast, but it’s more like economics + weird and fascinating stories from history/now + very cool hosts. Seriously, if I ever have to take an economics class in college, I feel like I’m going to walk in all excited and then be disappointed and like, why isn’t this Planet Money?
General length: 20 minutes
Episodes to try:
#644: How Much Does This Cow Weigh? // the wisdom of crowds, aka I can tell you almost exactly how much a cow weighs just by looking at it
#690: All In // a college student goes all in in his first ever poker tournament-how does he do? I guess you’ll have to listen to find out
#865: Tweak This // note to self: includes valuable information for sharing an apartment with a roommate
That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs

Description: Every Tuesday and Thursday (and sometimes on special occasions, on bonus days inbetween), podcast episodes are dropped of Annie F. Downs (ANOTHER ANNIE) talking with people she’s either friends with or wants to be friends with-no strangers allowed. The conversations go from soccer to what does hearing from God mean for you to Santa to Enneagram to books to Nashville to counseling to music to tears to laughter. I love it.
General length: 1 hour
Episodes to try:
January 2018 Rhthms: Sabbath + John Mark Comer // the first time I heard a conversation about Sabbath as something people still practice
Episode 108: Mary Kate Morrissey + Ginna Claire Mason Moffett // three best friends talking, I think this episode might have made me cry?
Next Gen Episode 5: Hollyn // okay I can’t find a link to this on her website, but it should be on podcasts apps-also not next gen as in the nails, next gen as in the next generation-also Hollyn’s story of how she met her husband is absolutely crazy
Hey Dad

Description: HeyDad is a podcast by three brothers (Andy, Kevin, and Tyler) and someone who wishes he was their brother (Derrick), and together they talk about dad and non-dad stuff. I am one hundred percent not their target audience and I really don’t know how I found this podcast, but they make me laugh every single time. They’re so funny.
Also, they have an amazing subscription box called (drumrolllll) the HeyDad box! It’s like all of those “add one egg and make a cake” cake mixes except it’s an “add kids and adults and have so much fun” box. I mentioned the subscription box in my letter to my niece, and I stand by my statement-I am so excited for when she will be old enough to explore a HeyDad box with me.
General length: 40 minutes
Episodes to try:
19: Back to School (or: “Bedtime club? Tell me more!”) // haha making kids spell hippopatamus-also the HeyDad website doesn’t have pages for each of the individual episodes so the link will take you to the overall podcast page
24: Secrets (or: “She sees surprises as insults”) // I love this episode-well I love all the episodes so is that saying a lot or nothing at all?

Do you listen to any podcasts?
When you have earbuds in, is it usually
a. music
b. podcasts
c. audiobooks
d. nothing, I just don’t feel like talking at the moment
e. I cannot tell you, I am a secret agent?
Are you reading anything at the moment?
I’ve recently gotten into listen to podcasts and have been looking for recommendations so will have to check these out! When I have earbuds in it’s usually for music (and I listen to it when I can’t sleep at night). I’m currently reading “the hundred year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared” it’s really good! Thanks for sharing these podcasts 😄❤️

Ohhh, NICE. I’m glad you’re liking The Hundred Year Old Man! The premise of that book is fascinating. And you’re welcome :)) What podcasts do you listen to?

So far I’m mostly into Ear Hustle and trying out episodes of other things but nothing is sticking as much as that ❤️

Ohh, Ear Hustle! I’m not subscribed, but I’ve definitely heard of them. Have you tried This American Life or Serial? I feel like both have a similar feel.

I haven’t heard of them but will definitely check them out now that you’ve mentioned they’re similar! 😄

I don’t have access to audiobooks but I would love to try audible. As I wouldn’t use it throughout the day (I have school) I don’t think it’s really worth the investment. Still, music is what I usually listen to 🙂

I haven’t tried audible before, but of course, with all the ads it gets out, I’ve definitely heard of it. Yes, that’s exactly my point of view too! Ohh, what bands or songs have you been listening to recently? One song that isn’t one I expected to like but one that I really do for some reason is Beautiful People by Ed Sheeran.

My favourite bands are Arctic Monkeys and The Vaccines, I don’t think that will ever change! At the moment though I’ve been listening to a lot of Beatles 🙃

Ohh, I haven’t listened to either of those! Arctic Monkeys sounds slightly familiar. Okay, I will go check out both of those on Spotify :))

I’m sure you will like them if you are an indie rock fan 🙂
